The story of Eleanor Roosevelt is entwined with the history of Saint Thomas Parish, Dupont Circle, Washington. Franklin served on the parish vestry during his first stay in Washington as Secretary of the Navy under Woodrow Wilson. Later, both the President and Eleanor were devoted members of the parish, and in fact Eleanor was frequently to be found working in the charity gift shop. Her prayer was written for use at daily devotions in the White House, and a copy was left in the church archives. A Prayer of Eleanor Roosevelt is written for SATB unaccompanied choir and is published by Paraclete Press.
